In Houston, the best-known bakeries and bagel shops have lines on weekend mornings, so arrive early or order ahead where the shop offers it. Across Texas, immigrant bakeries add Mexican pan dulce, Vietnamese banh mi bread, Chinese buns, Middle Eastern sweets and European rye to the mix, and many gluten-free and vegan bakeries have opened in larger cities. Check the listing for hours, whether the shop accepts custom cake orders and its Google rating before you go, and call about allergens, since small kitchens often share equipment. Day-old bread and end-of-day discounts are common if you ask.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 12–10 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (713) 942-2226. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, sweetcupgelato.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 900 reviews, which is a strong result for an ice cream shop in Houston and suggests consistent service.

Houston is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Houston is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Affordable and delicious! What more can you ask for? We tried the butter pecan, snickerdoodle (my favorite), and Carmel. The small cup came with a complimentary waffle piece. Great customer service even with a long line. Great spot for after visiting the museum.

I love coming here, every single time after the Houston Zoo or the Museum of Science, even after walks. We head to sweet cup all the time!! The staff are always very friendly and helpful when helping as well. Always recommend to others 10 out 10, this place is my favorite.

This was my second time here but didn’t review after the first visit. The gelato is very good! I had the Whiskey Butter Pecan gelato and my friends had the Dubai and Turtle Pecan Cheesecake. We sampled each other’s and they were all delicious!
